Restricted Access

PAULS’ NOTE – 14th DECEMBER

On friday I disabled part of the security function on the software that runs the membership aspects of First Bass And Beyond and the courses hosted here.

Previously you could only see links to the menu items and pages that were part of courses you had access too.  But that made page load times unacceptable.

So it’s been disabled and page loads times have halved.

The downside is that you can now see the menu and page links for all the pages on the site – even if you don’t have access to them.

So….

If you’ve landed on this page it’s EITHER because you clicked a link to a page that you don’t have access for or because you’re not logged in.

If you think you should have access to a page that’s given you the RESTRICTED ACCESS message, then email me and I’ll look into it.

If you need to log in, use the form below (and if you’re already logged in you’ll get a message telling you that):

  1. If i look in my content it saus that i have acces to issues 1-75 and 75- 150 but i have only acces on issue 150 ???

    • Hey Seppie

The My Content page is a default page that’s recommended to be set up for most sites. For my site it doesn’t make sense (at the moment). So I’ve trashed it.

The page you were seeing was the ‘Menu’ pages for the different issues. You just joined last week….and your membership runs for the next year. So you should be seeing the Bonus Content (Bass FOr Beginners, Blues Bass, Archive, etc) and you’ll see each new issue appear in your Members Area as it is published every friday.

Access to issues prior to 150 will be available to you via Back Issue purchasing. But it’s something that I want to enable only once I’ve completely uploaded all the content for teh first 150 pages. (You’ve joined before the move to this site is 100% complete).

      That make sense?

    • Hey Jo

See reply to Steppie I just wrote…basically back issue access will be available (though it’s a purchasing access). But it hasn’t been enabled yet. Soon hopefully….

  2. Hi Paul,
I love the new website, but I’m still unable to access the back issues. My paypal starting date was 05/12/2010.
I may have forgotten to include the year when providing the details in a prior email.
    Best regards
    Doug

  3. Hi Paul,

Yes, this is a much better system.
My first ezine was 20 Jan 15/10.

Could you back up my access please?

    Regards,
    Gary

  4. Hi Paul,

Cannot access older issues. I believe I go back to the first issue. Thanks.

Have a good vacation. You definitely deserve it.

    Steve

    • Hey Steve

Just backdated you to issue 1! You do indeed go all the way back…..Hope you’re having a great summer.

      Paul

  5. Hi Paul,
Would it be possible to create a ‘search’ whereby all related items could be associated to an issue number? I am new and find it a little confusing on where to find what I want and need!

  6. Hi Paul,
    Sorry about this!
I am new and although I have payed a subscription I am confused as to how to access all you have on offer and that that I am entitled to access. Is there a simple guide to take me around your site?

    • Hey trevor

It’s not a problem – I’ve been meaning to create a simple guide but haven’t had chance yet.

I just checked and you joined around 20th july – so you should be able to see the last three issues.

In addition you should be able to see the following sections:
      1. Bass For Beginners (30 Lessons)
      2. Blues Bass (so far 6 or 7 lessons)
      3. Archive of the Monthly Ezine (A section with about 20 videos/PDFs in).

What you use I guess depends on your goals…if you want to put them down I can give you some ideas.

      Paul

  7. i wasnt sure when my subscription was up,not knowing the date, which you asked for,i never did whatever what needed to access the new website, now i see it was up today and paypal automatically charged me for the renewel, so now that i know im paid to date, what do i need to do to get access?

  8. Hi Paul

Please be advised I can not log onto your site for First Bass & Beyond. My email address and pass word are correct. Could you please let me know why as I would like to continue with this publication.

    Kind Regards,

    Frank

    • Theo

I’ve fixed it – you should be ok to log on now. What were you doing when you got locked out? Were you using a mobile device of some sort (e.g. iPad or iPhone)?

      Paul

  9. Paul,
Still no access…PayPal debited my account in August but for the past 10 days I have had no access to FB&B…Any ideas?
    Rick

    • Hi Rick

Your account was locked for some reason – I’ll be emailing everyone about this, I think using devices to access the site that have ‘roaming IP addresses’ (I.e. iPhones, 3G ipads etc) will cause this locking out.

I’ve unlocked you – you should have access now.

      Paul

    • And if this happens again, don’t wait 10 days to contact me. Occasionally I overlook an email…so if you send one and don’t get a response in 24 hours then send another. Or post here. Or post on my facebook wall.

      Paul

  10. I keep getting directed to the restricted access page when i click on the link. Then it wont accept my email address and/or password. Help ???

    • Andy

Try logging out and then logging back in – according to the system your account is in working order with no problems. Possible that you entered your password wrong? (I can change that for you if you want).

      Paul

  11. Hey Paul, it seems that my back issues have not been linked to my account, as I still have no access. I sent you a couple of emails but it seems they don’t cme through or something. Back issues in question are the following :

  12. Hi Paul,
I am trying to add back issue 12 to my cart but I am getting a return that says:

I am siked about the Elvis transcription in this issue 🙂

  16. Paul,
Sorry to tell you, but my access is still screwed up. I had hoped that the website reboot would fix it, but alas, no. I’ve been a member since last year, but, as a random test, I discovered that even some of the issues this past February are blocked (issue 180, just for instance). I’m not looking for any issue in particular, just to get the situation cleared up.
    Thanks,
    Jo Jo

  17. Hello Paul,
It seems I’m having trouble accessing issues of First Bass and Beyond. For some reason it doesn’t recognize my email address.

  18. Hey Paul
In response to your ” I NEED HELP “,Bass solving problems?- you break down the whole song whereas to there is no way a student will be confused, after your watching your tutorial.
The tutorial and printing out the notation and tabs is the most useful tool.
And finally, I would like to see some SALSA MUSIC, I try to pay along with the Orchestras that I know well, but it’s not simple, and it’s close to impossible to find TABS for SALSA MUSIC.
I hope that helps you a bit Paul….

  19. Q1: I searched and found: structure of a song (form e very important.
A good notation in notes and tabs, and an video with good slow teacher.
Q2: Time and Groove, Blues bass and the songs I needed.
Q3: The possibility to achieve only the songnotation as a surpluss of an issue. Your explanation is correct but sometimes I only need the leadsheet and I do not have always the time to read all. Sorry for my poor English I speak Dutch. Greetz Jos

  20. Despite having email saying
Thanks for purchasing Working Basslines Volume 1 Your Account has now been activated.

You may now access the first 8 songs by
logging in to your account at… etc..
I cant get past this page
    Adrian
